The limits of psychiatry and psychiatry without limits

N.A. Zorin · Psychiatry and psychopharmacotherapy · 2024

The article continues the series of works where the author considers medicine and psychiatry, in particular, in the context of broad global social processes inextricably intertwined with the processes of redistribution of Wealth and Power. This is a look at medicine from the “outside”. An attempt is made to show that all psy-disciplines, by virtue of their specificity in dealing with human behavior are inevitably drawn into political and economic manipulative processes and become instruments of biopower (M. Foucault). These processes are changing the boundaries of psychiatry - the subject of eternal disputes among psychiatrists – and are shaping the social face of the epoch.
