A Study of the Issues and Challenges of Intelligent Robot Ethics

This study aims to examine the major issues in intelligent robot ethics and to explore the future research tasks in this field. In recent years, robotics has developed rapidly through its convergence with key technologies and systems, including artificial intelligence, big data, and networked infrastructures. As a result, newly emerging intelligent robots are exerting unprecedented influences throughout the entire process from development to practical use. Unlike conventional robots that merely execute commands, intelligent robots equipped with general-purpose AI may become agents capable of entering into ethical relationships with humans through intelligent learning and reasoning. Accordingly, intelligent robot ethics must move beyond traditional automation-based approaches and address new ethical issues within the framework of autonomy.
