The Process of Integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence into Litigation Skills Training for Law Students

The rapid development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is creating significant changes in legal practice, while simultaneously posing a demand for pedagogical innovation in higher education. Regarding litigation skills training, current traditional methods still have many limitations in creating practical and interactive environments that closely reflect reality for students. This study proposes a four-step pedagogical process to integrate GenAI into litigation training. The highlight of the research is positioning GenAI as a cognitive support tool, helping students alleviate pressure when drafting legal documents, while simultaneously creating a simulated court environment to hone their reflexes and situational handling capabilities. Furthermore, the study establishes ethical principles such as the human-in-the-loop mechanism and emphasizes the new role of educators as proactive designers of situations and cognitive challenges aimed at developing independent judgment capacities for learners. Thereby, the article provides a practical reference framework, contributing to the training of lawyers capable of mastering technology while upholding professional ethical values.
