Abstract This article offers commentary on a past essay, “The Fork in the Road,” published in Nursing History Review more than two decades ago. It reflects on how today’s nursing students are much more aware of the impact of Black and Indigenous nurses, along with other excluded racialized and immigrant nurses, than in past generations and how studying nursing history can help bring lasting impact and change on the profession.
