Dental caries is an ubiquitous disease that predominantly affects individuals during early childhood, necessitating the restoration of extensive carious lesions to re-establish the anatomical and functional integrity of the affected teeth. The primary objectives of restorative treatment in pediatric dentistry are to restore the masticatory, phonetic, aesthetic and space-maintainer functions of the dental arches, thus preventing the premature loss of primary teeth and its associated consequences, including loss of vertical dimension of occlusion, tongue thrusting and mouth breathing habits. The satisfactory restoration of primary teeth, particularly in terms of esthetics, space management, and functional rehabilitation, poses a significant challenge for pediatric dentists.
