Oral health practice has entered the era of evidence-based dentistry, due to the global trend of Oral Health-Related Quality of Life. The concept of oral health has changed from a biologic approach to a social and physiologic approach, which takes into consideration other aspects like social interaction, self-esteem, and facial esthetics. There is an interaction between quality of life and oral health. Molecular biology, genomic studies, and proteomes have opened alternative windows for the translation of basic science concepts to oral health perception. Basic etiologic factors of genetic versus environmental, if addressed at the molecular level, will lead to the rehabilitative abilities of oral health. Regenerative dentistry is going to establish in its discipline. Genotherapy, gene mutation, and tem cells are the future of dentistry. It indicates that dentistry is to be transformed from an art to science.
