Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a highly prevalent chronic disease, affecting 8.8% of people worldwide. There are many factors related to the development of DM, the most important are modifiable related to lifestyle such as body weight, physical inactivity, smoking and consumption of alcohol. Objective: To know the prevalence of Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in patients with increased risk for T2D. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in the family medicine unit 27, in patients with increased risk for T2D according to the FINDRISC test. The participants were recruited from a previous study titled “Risk assessment for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults from FMU 27”. The patients with increased risk for T2D were evaluated with paraclinical studies in order to confirm alterations in blood glucose. Descriptive statistics were used, the qualitative variables were expressed in frequencies and percentages, and the quantitative variables in measures of central tendency and dispersion, the information obtained was analyzed in the statistical program SPSS version 25.
