Public Health Implications of Multidrug-Resistant Enteric Bacteria in Poultry Farming in Developing Countries

The growing problem of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria in poultry farming is a significant concern for public health, particularly in developing countries where poultry farming plays a vital role in the food system. The emergence and spread of these resistant bacteria are exacerbated by poor sanitation, limited access to clean water, and the overuse of antibiotics in poultry farming. Vulnerable populations, such as those who are poor, malnourished, or living in areas with limited healthcare access, are at heightened risk of severe infections caused by these resistant pathogens.
