The diabetic foot is a commonly encountered problem in surgical practice. Since treatment of the diabetic foot is quite complex, its management can mandate a multidisciplinary approach, including vascular surgery, acute care surgery, intensive care, podiatry, internal medicine, endocrinology, infectious disease, nursing, case management, and social work. This review highlights some of the details of the management of the diabetic foot from such an approach.
