Cybersecurity Concerns in Technology-Driven Investment Banking

In recent years, particularly in 2025, the investment banking industry has experienced a significant transformation. These changes are driven by rapid advancements in technology, particularly the development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in trading algorithms, client data management, client acquisition, business administration, and other core operational functions. While these innovations have revolutionized firms' efficiency and competitive standing, they have outpaced the development of effective cybersecurity measures, leaving confidential financial data and systems susceptible to increasingly complex and often cyber-attacks. This lack of security measures poses significant risks, including financial losses, operational disruption, regulatory scrutiny, reputational damage, and instability in the vast global financial systems that rely on investment bankers' services (Adejumo and Ogburie, 2025, pp. 1527-1541).
