Public Health Education and Training in Sex, Gender, and Transgender Health: A Course to Advance Health at a US School of Public Health

Sari L. Reisner, Kieren P. Todd · American Journal of Public Health · 2025

We describe the development and evaluation of “Women, Gender, and Health 230: The Health of Transgender and Gender Diverse People,” a course at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health that aims to equip future leaders in public health with conceptual frameworks and research methods to address sex- and gender-based population health inequities. We explain the pedagogy, course rationale, design, and implementation of the course for faculty, designers of educational curricula, and public health institutions to integrate transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse population health.
