Flood risk—a government perspective

With 10% of the population of England and Wales and assets with a capital value of over £200 billion at risk the potential impact of flooding on the welfare economy of this nation and its people is significant. This paper describes the UK government's perspective of flood risk and its response which has reduced potential annual average losses from £3.5 billion to £0.8 billion.
