London 2012 legacy: creating a more sustainable future for London and beyond

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games' commitment to sustainability provided a strong foundation for legacy. This applied across all venues, infrastructure and green space originally built for the games and has stimulated significant urban regeneration in east London generally. There is also a strong knowledge legacy through the influence of best practices, methodologies and standards. This is having a profound effect on future games and more broadly across the global events sector. This paper focuses on two key legacy strands: the sustainability aspects of the former Olympic Park and sustainable event management.
