With an ever increasing pressure on the NHS to cut costs while still maintaining a high standard of patient care, it would appear that many nurses are struggling to access the educational resources needed to provide continued professional development. A shift appears to be developing in how traditional educational programmes are taught and accessed. The clinical nurse specialist now plays a more pivotal role in the continued professional development of those around them through a number of different educational initiatives, often in collaboration with commercial companies.
