With the imminent establishment of the specialty and an increasing recognition of the challenges this group of patients present, 2008 looks to be the year of special care dentistry (SCD). It is also the year in which the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) has launched a reformatted certificate in SCD.
