Epilepsy service provision: Time for change

Findings from a study of epilepsy service provision in England, Epilepsy in England: Time for Change (Epilepsy Action, 2009) made me reflect on how epilepsy services, despite the huge amount of supportive policy published over the years, are failing to be prioritized. This report highlights the fact that, due to a basic lack of understanding of the condition, commissioners continue to design inadequate epilepsy services for the 382 000 individuals in England who have epilepsy. This is despite the fact that epilepsy is the most common, serious neurological condition in the population today and affects people of all ages.
