Neuroscience benchmarking: A process for sharing success and learning from experience

Benchmarking is a useful means of comparing outcomes among health-care institutions. In this article benchmarking will be discussed in terms of its purpose and process within UK health-care. In particular, the work to date of the National Neuroscience Benchmarking Group will be reviewed. This article describes the development of the group, outlines the various stages in the benchmarking process and considers some of the obstacles encountered.
