Many neuroscience nurses may not realize that from 14 August the majority of NHS band 5 and 6 nursing posts have been removed from the UK Shortage Occupation List (Home Office, 2006). This means that such posts will need to be advertised nationally before a work permit application can be lodged and will benefit UK and EU nurses. However, some band 5 and 6 posts remain on the list of national shortage.
