Epilepsy is a serious lifelong disorder characterized by seizures which often appears during childhood. Partial or even complete recovery from seizures is possible as a result of medical or surgical treatment. The following article discusses some of the important differences between children and adults, including different pathology, surgical techniques and outcomes. In addition, the effect on the family is considered. It is important to consider these differences when assessing a child's suitability for surgery and when giving advice and care to children and parents before and after surgery.
