Not nice: Penny-pinching ignores the patient

On 26 May, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) announced its review on the use of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and memantine for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (2006a, 2006b) (Table 1). These recommendations are subject to appeal, and a final decision is expected in July.
