News coverage in May of the attributes of cannabis for pain relief followed the publication of a paper by researchers from Imperial College, London, reporting the effects of a cannabis extract for post-operative pain relief (Holdcroft et al, 2006). This adds to a long-running debate about whether cannabis should be legalized for medical purposes.
