A need to identify research priorities

Sue Woodward · British Journal of Neuroscience Nursing · 2005

With the advent of evidence-based practice, neuroscience nurses increasingly need to access quality research to underpin their practice. As we become more committed to the utilization of research to support care and to provide an evidence base for practice, the numbers of studies conducted by neuroscience nurses and reported have increased (Dilorio et al, 2004). Many aspects of our practice, however, lack a sound evidence base, and further research into a wide variety of areas is required. It would make sense, therefore, for neuroscience nurses to identify priority areas for research to help both researchers and funding organizations decide which projects to propose and fund.
