Radiation dose to the lens from CT brain scans in general radiology departments

Further to the paper on radiation dose to the lens from computed tomography (CT) in a neuroradiology department [1], I report the lens dose from brain scans in general radiology departments. The materials and methods were similar to the previous paper, i.e. subjects were unselected inpatients and outpatients undergoing routine scanning, thermoluminescent dosimeters were used for measurement, and statistical calculations used the Confidence Interval Analysis program (BMJ Publishing Group, London). The scan protocols are given in Table I and the results in Table II.
