The implementation of a fast self-tuning control algorithm on a microcomputer system is described. The controller, which uses the pole placement approach to self-tuning, is applied to an analogue simulation of an electrohydraulic cylinder drive. It is demonstrated that the controller performs extremely well in tracking both the demand signal and time-varying process parameters.
