The double aortic clamp technique during coronary artery bypass grafting refers to the performance of distal vein anastomoses with a cross-clamp on the distal ascending aorta and proximals with an added partial occlusion clamp or its modification or the incorpo ration of a partial into a total occlusion clamp. It ensures the elimination of a warm ischemia time during the construction of proximal vein anastomoses as well as a bloodless operative field.
