Software Reviews : SIMULA TIONS IN AMERICAN HISTORY

Social Science Computer Review · 1988

Part 1 is an interactive simulation of a congressional committee which must decide whether to recommend readmitting the southern states to the Union after the Civil War. Part 2 simulates the presidential decision whether to take action in the Pullman strike of 1894. Both parts, authored by John Semonche, require the student to reach answers after hearing various arguments and considering all the pertinent facts. The Pullman strike simulation is the better designed of the two. The level is advanced high school or community college. The package has little competition and the price is low, so I strongly recommend that instructors try out this fresh approach to a traditional subject.
