Social Science Computer Review · 1988

This reference covers 3,500 government data sources with over 4,200 databases and files. Hundreds of downloadable tapes are described, as well as some 200 databases for which a government agency will run free listings. Access is easy through a comprehensive 69-page index. Government-controlled databases are described in detail in the first 158 pages. Addresses, phone numbers, and names of contact officers are given. A second lengthy section lists specific recent data files available on such topics as farm income, business conditions, world population, local government finances, input-output economic tables, education, divorce data, and the public-use microdata samples files.
