Disc-world is a suitable example for teaching high-level image processing. Scenes are stacks of thin opaque discs, or circular holes. The images from these scenes are line drawings, made up of circles and arcs of circles. Some images are valid; others have to be classified as invalid. Disc-world offers a rare opportunity to set students inductive problems.
