Transplantation of Allogeneic Tumours in Rats Treated with Antilymphocyte Serum

J.A. Kellen · Oncology · 2009

The histological picture of round cell infiltration of the tumor periphery and stroma were found to correlate closely to the take or rejection of R 3230 AC tumor transplants. This tumor can be mainted in the ‘compatible’ Fisher 344 rat strain with ease and does not take in the ‘incompatible’ Sprague-Dawley strain. The latter can be made compatible by transient treatment with antilymphocyte serum, which efficiently depresses the graft rejection phenomenon; impairment of the cellular immune response parallels the acceptance of the tumor transplant.
