Regional lymphadenectomy of inguinal and axillary nodes performed prior to the induction of rat mammary tumours with 7,12-dimethyl benz-(α)-anthracene did not significantly affect the incidence, size, pathological nature or spread of the induced tumours. The results suggest that in this tumour system, the regional lymph nodes do not play a significant role in inhibiting tumour induction or modifying subsequent tumour behaviour.
