Chemotherapy in Solid Tumors of Childhood

Several malignant tumors are unique to infants and children. Earlier diagnosis, improved surgical techniques, and recent developments in radiotherapy have increased overall survival rates. Chemotherapeutic agents have likewise played a major role in providing cure, long-term survival, or patient comfort. An aggressive treatment program that combines all 3 modes of therapy and that is based on controlled clinical studies should continue to improve the outlook for these unfortunate children with malignant disease.
