Long-standing ascites of benign nature, associated with Peripheral edema and minimal liver functioin disturbance was observed in 15 cases of 472 patients suffering from atrial fibrillation without any other apparent signe of cardiac disease. The duration of ascites and edema correlated with the durationof uncomplicated atrial fibrillation.
