SUMMARYEighty‐three national and 65 local advocacy groups for handicapped persons were surveyed by questionnaire. National groups described financial obstacles as primary barriers to care, whereas local groups described difficulty in performing oral care procedures as primary barriers to dental care. Both national and local groups were interested in dental involvement, although they differed in prior involvement with dental health matters. Dental information and speakers at programs were cited as ways to increase dental input.
