Suprapubic Bladder Drainage in Gynaecological Surgery

Suprapubic bladder drainage was used in the postoperative management of 25 patients undergoing major gynecological procedures of the type following which catheterization in the ward was often required. The results were compared with those in a similar group of 25 patients for whom suprapubic drainage was not used. The procedure was found to minimize patient discomfort, ward catheterization and urinary infection, and to make the nursing management much easier.
