ABSTRACTThe Australasian College for Emergency Medicine has held examinations since 1985. The Primary Examination is an examination in Anatomy, Pathology, Physiology and Pharmacology taken after medical registration. The Fellowship Examination is a certifying examination in emergency medicine taken in the fifth year of a 5 year advanced training programme. In this review the format and results of the examinations held during 1985 to 1991 are compared with the examinations in emergency medicine held by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
