ABSTRACTA prospective survey of trauma x‐rays showed that young adults were over‐investigated radio‐logically when compared to patients at the extremes of age. Skull, spinal and chest X‐rays revealed few fractures. Cost and yield analysis indicate that a significant decrease in the number of X‐rays ordered is both desirable and feasible.
