SUMMARYThe Curietron is a remotely controlled electromechanical machine for afterloading caesium‐137 sources for treatment of gynaecological cancer. Its mechanism and safety features are described. Applicators, sources and dose distributions are discussed.The machine was the first such unit to be installed in Australia and has now been in service for over four years. It has been used to carry out over 200 treatments with very few problems.
