SUMMARYThe disappointing outlook in the treatment and prognosis of lung cancer still continues and is an enigma which baffles clinicians in the management of this disease.A selected clinical trial was carried out in the Royal Adelaide Hospital using hydroxyurea and irradiation in one group of patients versus a placebo group who received irradiation only. The results are discussed and a plea is made for further clinical trials and research into the patho‐physiology of the disease.
