SUMMARYCavitation of the primary tumors of the lung is a well known phenomenon, but it is rare in the pulmonary metastases. Three cases of cavitating pulmonary metastases are presented. The pathogenesis of the cavitation, and the radiological principles on which the demonstration of a “ring” shadow in the lung depends, are discussed. Clinical features and the differential diagnosis are briefly outlined.
