SUMMARYThis paper reviews the experience of an obstetric hospital in neonatal chest radiology during a twelve‐month period in which 178 babies with a variety of respiratory disorders were X‐rayed. Radiological patterns were correlated with pathological findings in 39 babies dying. Changes in early X‐rays of 68 babies with the idiopathic respiratory distress syndrome were studied and were found to be of some, although rather limited, value in prognosis. The value and some limitations of radiology in neonatal respiratory disorders are discussed.
