Traumatic Meningoceles

Lanze V. Perrett · Australasian Radiology · 1963

SUMMARYTraction lesions of the brachial plexus may result in avulsion of nerve roots within the spine or peripheral lesions outside the spine. The avulsion lesions carry the more serious prognosis and may be diagnosed by the myelographic demonstration of traumatic meningoceles. Other suggestive, but less specific myelographic findings are elongation of root pouches or obliteration of these structures. Accurate diagnosis of the site of the lesion saves unnecessary surgical exploration and helps in management and prognosis.
