Selfassembly of Defective Particles of the Bacteriophage fr

T. Hohn · European Journal of Biochemistry · 1967

The assembly of protein subunits and RNA of the icosahedral, RNA‐containing bacteriophage fr was studied. Conditions were found under which the constituents could be specially reaggregated to form virus‐like particles, a small fraction of which was infective. The RNA seems to be essential for the assembly process.
