An algebra is introduced which allows for the simultaneous manipulation of paired qualities and quantities, with special reference to qualities showing a Mendelian relationship, and to the combined operation of pairs of loci which may or may not recombine. A description is given of a set of subroutines for the manipulation of data and the estimation of parameters relating to gene frequencies and recombination fractions.
