Abstract Background Robotic surgery is increasingly adopted in elective procedures, but its efficacy in emergency general surgery (EGS) remains underexplored. This review assesses robotic surgery outcomes compared to laparoscopic and open techniques in EGS settings. Method A systematic review was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library (2010–2024). Of 600 initially identified studies, 6 met inclusion criteria. Data on complication rates, operative times, hospital stays, and recovery metrics were extracted. Quality assessment used the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool and Joanna Briggs Institute checklist. Results Robotic surgery adoption increased significantly, with an eightfold rise from 1.8% to 15.1% in Michigan hospitals. For robotic ventral hernia repairs (RVHR), minor and major complication rates were 20.5% and 11.7%, respectively, with a 2.9% hernia recurrence rate over 20.5 months.
