SUMMARYThe development of a pneumothorax is a recognized complication of ultrasound‐guided percutaneous liver biopsy. A way of detecting such a complication using real‐time ultrasound is described, whereby the well‐visualized liver disappears from the monitor screen. We also discuss the reasons for this occurrence.
