Objectives: To describe the author's experience of mental health services available in Ladakh, a remote region of India. Method: A review of inpatient medical files was undertaken to ascertain the possible incidence of psychiatric presentations to the regions only hospital. Case descriptions are presented, as well as a summary of educational material provided. Results: Approximately 0.1% of admissions were for an apparent primary psychiatric condition. Conclusion: There is a very significant lack of services and expertise to deal with mental health problems in Ladakh.
