AbstractThe Waisman Center MRDDRC supports behavioral, social, and biomedical research on human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases. Examples of research conducted in each of the four MRDDRC units include: abnormalities in gene expression in human neuronal stem cells and progenitor cells from Down syndrome tissue (from the Molecular and Genetic Sciences Unit), language disorders in adolescents with Down syndrome and Fragile X syndrome (from the Communication Processes Unit); the development of selective visual attention during the first 6 months of life (from the Sensory and Cognitive Processes Unit); and the long‐range effects of early intervention on special education placement, delinquency, and high school graduation rates (from the Social and Affective Processes Unit).
