AbstractHigh non‐attendance rates are an ongoing problem in psychiatric clinics. The authors describe their study that investigated the effect of telephone prompts on attendance rates at a community mental health centre. They discuss their findings in the context of other studies and consider the variation in attendance rates among different patient groups. Copyright © 2007 Wiley Interface Ltd
