AbstractThe history of Thoracic Surgical Oncology warrants attribution to the strong foundational contributions of the past. Current surgical approaches and techniques along with newer systemic therapies are the product of iterative modifications to prior successes. Progress also fosters traditional thinking to be challenged and other classic topics to be revisited with a contemporary perspective. Cumulatively, past and present clinical and scientific efforts point toward a promising future in the evolving landscape of Thoracic Surgical Oncology.
