NS/PCs obtained from the striata of fetuses of transgenic mice with ubiquitous expression of ffLuc‐cp156, a fusion protein of firefly luciferase and Venus protein, are used in this study Hara‐Miyauchi et al., 2012). The obtained cells can be easily detected both in vitro and in vivo by fluorescence of Venus (a variant of GFP), and also by luminescence from luciferase. This image was taken in an in vitro differentiation assay of derived NS/PCs, and shows that all the cells are positive for GFP (green), while only a portion are positive for GFAP (red), confirming the multipotency of the obtained NS/PCs.
